Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Meet the team: Mrs Wyles and Mrs Parker-Smith, Miss Walker, Mrs Hobbs, Miss Nash, Mrs Lynch and Miss Froggett.

This year, we will be covering five topics. These are:

Autumn 1

Autumn 2

Summer 1

Summer 2

Ancient Egypt

Bright Lights, Big City

Roman Invasion!

Liquid Gold

Each topic will begin with launch days and will be followed up by work in the class each week. There will also be topic based projects that the children are asked to complete each term. These topics will cover Geography, History, Art and Design skills. We are really looking forward to learning about these topics with the children and, as always, seeing the amazing work they create at home!

Science is taught separate to topic this year and in Year Four, the children will be learning about: Electricity; sound; animals and humans; states of matter and living things in their environment.

In Re this year, the children will be learning about Christianity, including finding out what it is like to follow God, the Holy Trinity and the Salvation. In addition, we will also be learning about other faiths, including Islam, Hinduism and Judaism.

Easter Production

We are also responsible in Year Four for the school Easter production, telling the Easter Story… more information will follow soon!

Alex Rider Trip – Year Four and Five

There will be a number of trips during the year – more information will follow as necessary. The residential trip for Year Four is combined with Year Five and the children head off to Spy Camp!! The trip is to the Alex Rider Academy and has been a great success in previous years.

Just a few reminders...

Each child should bring home a reading book and reading diary from school. These need to be in school each day and can be changed in the library when there is a comment in the diary to show that the book has been read.

Learning Journeys are taken home on Friday and we ask to receive them back the following Tuesday.

PE is on a Wednesday afternoon, please remember to bring kits!

During the Spring Term, children will be attending swimming lessons on a Tuesday afternoon at the AT7 Centre. This is a vital part of the curriculum so please remember kits each week.
